Martigny , the sunny city in the Valais prides itself on its
lively programme of art exhibitions; recent new attractions include a museum
devoted to the St. Bernard dog, the star of the nearby Grand St. Bernard Pass
route over the Alps into Italy.

journey here in Martigny, offering unforgettable mountain excursions, among the
best in the Valais.
Art, architecture, design.
As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the gigantic statues in the streets of the
town. And you shouldn’t miss the many galleries and exhibitions of contemporary
art.
Fondation Pierre Gianadda
A remarkable museum, built around the remains of the oldest Gallo-Roman
temple in Switzerland. It also regularly serves as the venue for important
exhibitions by artists of the rank of Picasso, Chagall and Balthus. The museum
has in addition a wonderful sculpture park, and a pavilion (summer only) devoted
to the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci.
Highlights
Musée du Saint-Bernard. The museum, open all year, is
devoted to the much-loved breed of dog, and the local breeding programme of the
Fondation Barry. It also presents the history of the hospice at the Grand St.
Bernard Pass.
The Roman amphitheatre. During the summer months, the arena
is an atmospheric setting for an open-air cinema. In autumn, it is the scene of
